Zephyr Heights
This neighborhood is hard to miss as you are driving into the Lake Tahoe area from the Nevada side. The Zephyr Heights community sits perched on the hill overlooking the lake, and offers many different types of properties. You'll find everthing from small cabins to large, open, airy lakeview homes with decks and some landscaping.
The streets in this neighborhood wind up and around the mountainside, while still offering access to open areas for hiking, mountain biking, and snow shoeing. Vistas abound with lake and mountain views from different areas in Zephyr Heights.
And as with most Tahoe neighborhoods, residents have to spend just a few moments in the car to get to shopping, dining and other fun actitivities.
There are three schools that serve the Zephyr Heights neighborhood: George Whittell High School, Kingsbury Middle School and Zephyr Cove Elementary. Combined, the three schools have an estimated 600 students and 70 teachers. In August of 2008, Whittell will consolidate with Kingsbury Middle School to become a campus for grades 7 through 12.
In 2005, Whittell was designated as "exemplary", one of only five Nevada schools to earn this honor.
