Zephyr Cove
The Zephyr Cove neighborhod is one of the originals on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. You'll find a mix of older stone cabins constructed in the late '20s, as well as newly built, or rebuilt, lakefront homes that feature all the latest, modern amenities.
Zephyr Cove offers a private homeowners beach, a large private pier and boat buoys. Initially, this was designated as a summer vacation destination, even though there are many homes that are occupied year-round.
Homes in this area are located right next to Zephyr Cove Beach which is a popular locals and tourist destination in the summer months. It's also where the M.S. Dixie paddleboat travels the lake daily, and the Woodwind catamaran operates for most of the year. The Zephyr Cove Lodge also features a great restaurant, lodging, RV and camping grounds.
There are three schools that serve the Zephyr Cove neighborhood: George Whittell High School, Kingsbury Middle School and Zephyr Cove Elementary. Combined, the three schools have an estimated 600 students and 70 teachers. In August of 2008, Whittell will consolidate with Kingsbury Middle School to become a campus for grades 7 through 12.
In 2005, Whittell was designated as "exemplary", one of only five Nevada schools to earn this honor.
