Uppaway
This is a private gated lakefront community with just a small smattering of homes on large lots with a private homeowners beach and pier with boat docks. The original Fleishman estate built in the late 40’s is just one of the more interesting properties in this subdivision. Most of the homes sit on large parcels of land and are not enclosed with fencing, so the whole area offers a great open and friendly feeling.
There are three schools that serve the Uppaway neighborhood: George Whittell High School, Kingsbury Middle School and Zephyr Cove Elementary. Combined, the three schools have an estimated 600 students and 70 teachers. In August of 2008, Whittell will consolidate with Kingsbury Middle School to become a campus for grades 7 through 12.
In 2005, Whittell was designated as "exemplary", one of only five Nevada schools to earn this honor.
