Stateline
For many, Stateline embodies the heart of South Lake Tahoe. Just minutes from the bustle of casino nightlife, shopping at the popular Heavenly Village, majestic gondola rides, top-rated skiing and even an 18-hole championship golf course, this neighborhood grants residents easy access to everything.
Many of the properties border miles and miles national forest service land for hiking, bike riding, dog walks, and many other outdoor activities. The main road running through Stateline, up Kingsbury Grade, allows for access to the towns of Genoa, Minden and Gardnerville, just down the hill.
There are three schools that serve this neighborhood: George Whittell High School, Kingsbury Middle School and Zephyr Cove Elementary. Combined, the three schools have an estimated 600 students and 70 teachers. In August of 2008, Whittell will consolidate with Kingsbury Middle School to become a campus for grades 7 through 12.
In 2005, Whittell was designated as "exemplary", one of only five Nevada schools to earn this honor.
