Skyland
Skyland is a wonderful lakefront, family neighborhood with many year round residents. The neighborhood, located just off Highway 50, features a homowners beach and swimming areas for the kids and adults. Several vacation homes are available in this area, which is known for its' appealing flat yards, easy access from the highway and walking distance to miles of forest service land for hiking and walking along the lake down to Zephyr Cove.
There are three schools that serve the Skyland neighborhood: George Whittell High School, Kingsbury Middle School and Zephyr Cove Elementary. Combined, the three schools have an estimated 600 students and 70 teachers. In August of 2008, Whittell will consolidate with Kingsbury Middle School to become a campus for grades 7 through 12.
In 2005, Whittell was designated as "exemplary", one of only five Nevada schools to earn this honor.
