Meyers
Meyers was the site of the most eastern remount station of the Central Overland Pony Express in California. It was established as a trading post in 1851 by Martin Smith, and became a popular hostelry and stage stop operated by Ephram "Yank" Clement on the Placerville-Carson road. It was used as a pony remount station until October 26, 1861, until it was sold to George D.H. Meyers in 1873 and the name changed to Meyers.

Today, this is a level neighborhood just south of the Lake Tahoe Golf Course, west of Highway 50. You'll find a mixture of original older homes as well as new construction. Meyers is its own town with a supermarket, hardware store, gas station, post office and more. The Lake Tahoe Environmental Magnet School is located in Meyers as well. Lake Baron, Meyers Park, Lake Tahoe Golf Course, the meadows and the Upper Truckee River are just a few of the recreational activities available.

In addition to the Magnet School, there are three elementary schools that serve Meyers: Bijou Community School, Tahoe Valley Elementary, and Sierra House Elementary. South Lake Tahoe also has one middle school (South Tahoe Middle School) and one high school (South Tahoe High School.)
