Kyburz
In 1911, the post office was established and the community was named for the first postmaster, Albert Kyburz. Located in the El Dorado National Forest, this community straddles the American River. Year-round cabins and homesites are available -- some privately owned and some belonging to the US Forest Service. Most are close enough to the river to swim or fish. In the evenings, residents enjoy sitting on their patios and listening to the rivers in the distance.
Kyburz is located at the gateway to miles of hiking, biking and snowmobiling -- you can even ride all the way to Highway 88 from here. And it's only 20 minutes to Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort, and close to several rock climbing areas, such as "Lovers Legs."
