Cave Rock
Cave Rock is perched above the cave homes with many offering much coveted views of the lake. While many of the homes sit on the edge of the mountain, there are others that offer easy and flat entry driveways. This is also a very historic area, as Native American Indians still consider Cave Rock a sacred memorial to a former life in Tahoe. With so many rock outcroppings, forest land, and lakeviews, this area is a one-of-a-kind location. Residents are also right across the street from the public Cave Rock boat launch and still just a short distance to all of Tahoe's amenities.
There are three schools that serve the Cave Rock neighborhood: George Whittell High School, Kingsbury Middle School and Zephyr Cove Elementary. Combined, the three schools have an estimated 600 students and 70 teachers. In August of 2008, Whittell will consolidate with Kingsbury Middle School to become a campus for grades 7 through 12.
In 2005, Whittell was designated as "exemplary", one of only five Nevada schools to earn this honor.
